Chortle Award Nominee 2009 – Breakthrough Act
Andrew O'Neill.
A name.
The name of a man. A man with a face, a digestive system, a penis.
In combination, they make one of the 21st century's most original comic voices.
You may have seen him on TV alongside Steve Coogan or reviewing the papers on Sky News. You may have heard him on the radio. Perhaps you've seen him buying chips after a heavy night of drinking.
Primarily a stand-up comedian, Andrew is by turns surreal, aggressive, political, silly and intelligent. He performs walking tours of Jack The Ripper's murder sites, is in a steampunk band called The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing (“leading the UK scene” NME) and, as a vegan metalhead transvestite, gets a special subcategory payment from his local council.
His live shows include the controversial and, in hindsight, inaccurate Winston Churchill was Jack The Ripper, and the acclaimed Andrew O'Neill's Totally Spot-On History Of British Industy.
He has opened for Amanda Palmer from the Dresden Dolls, performed at the Download metal festival and counts the comic book writer Alan Moore among his fans.
Andrew O'Neill is not a robot. Those rumours are unfounded.
