thelondonpaper London Laugh 2008 – Runner Up

If.Comedy Spirit Of The Fringe Award – Winner
(just like everybody else)

Marcel Lucont is France’s premier misanthropist and lover. The self-published, self-award-winning author from Roubaix, Northern France, is currently residing in London. His blend of sardonic wit and Gallic charm has attracted acclaim from several critics, and several women. Sometimes both at once.

Marcel has talked at crowds all over the world, including the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe Launch Party and ComedyBox Live (as compere), but has finally settled in England, as the quality of the payment just about makes up for the quality of the food and wine.

Marcel is an expert in the art of low-energy compering and is fast becoming a favourite on both the comedy and cabaret scenes. He will appear in his first solo show, ‘Marcel Lucont: Sexual Metro’ at both the Adelaide Fringe and Edinburgh Fringe in 2009.

“deadpan delivery and surreal musings – a stand-up star of the future” thelondonpaper

“wonderful French wit … whose skills as a raconteur and bon vivant are almost as proficient as those he wields in the bedroom. Superb stuff. Magnifique!” TimeOut

“a highlight of the night” Fringe Report

“superb, miserablist French comedy” Finger In The Pie Cabaret

“nothing could prepare us for the superb Marcel Lucont. He is devastating in his smooth, laconic French dismissal of Australian lack of sexual sophistication” Rip It Up Magazine

“just the sort of thing you hope to discover at the Fringe … calculating wit, quality audience interaction and a fresh premise. It's a favourite – highly recommended” Adelaide Fix Magazine

Live Work

Marcel has quickly built up a reputation on the UK comedy and cabaret scene, and has a compering residency at award-winning Falling Down With Laughter Experiment, London Bridge. He can perform stand-up sets of between 20 and 45 minutes.
