HELLO AND WELCOME TO THE FIRST EVER FIVE POUND FRINGE! 

 

It’s a pretty simple idea – tickets cost £5, for every show, for the whole Fringe. Why? Because it’s an arts festival, because it’s a fair price to pay, and because we want you to take a chance and see people that you haven’t heard of before. We’re absolutely delighted with the shows that are part of our programme … we really hope that you will be too.  

  

We tried to write about the comedy programme and pick out specific things we’re looking forward to, but we can’t ... we’re just stupidly excited about everything! We’re thrilled to be hosting established names like Mark Watson, Robin Ince, Stephen Grant and Gordon Southern; we’ve got a number of debut solo offerings which are just as exciting; and we’ve got probably the best value late night show on the Fringe (Fucking Funny For A Fiver) and five of the hottest young comics around (The Lunchtime Club). There’s site-specific madness with Sanderson Jones – he could literally pop up anywhere – and there’s a brand new venue, Holly’s House, which will host a daily live sitcom.   

We’re hosting the Dutch Embassy’s pick of Dutch Theatre in what is probably the most interesting and different late show around. ‘Star Stories’ star Trevor Lock brings his latest play ‘The One And The Many’ to the GRV (as well as his debut solo show), and there’s even a comic play featuring a full oompah band.  

There are kids’ shows, music gigs, one-off shows, charity shows, launch parties … a daily lunchtime taster of Five Pound Fringe shows … and every night we’re dead excited about For One Night Only, set to become the Fringe’s must-do event with special guests, secret gigs and Fringe favourites dusting off old shows (we wish we could tell you who, but our lips are sealed – you’ll have to check the venue boards, the website or collar one of our lovely street team to find out who’s on!).
